If you’ve ever wanted to try birdwatching but didn’t know how to get started, here is your chance! We’ll observe birds visually and by song in our back yard from the comfort of cushioned chairs. (Experienced bird watchers are also welcome!)
Our back yard is a bird-friendly habitat containing shrubs, trees, a Koi Pond with waterfall, and six bird feeders of various types. We’ve seen as many as 23 different bird species in our yard in a single day, and we fully expect to see at least 8 – 15 species at this event.
We’ll supply light refreshments.
Bring a pair of decent binoculars, (not opera glasses or tiny binoculars). If needed, you can get a reasonably good beginning pair for $86 at Amazon if you search for Bushnell H2O Roof Prism Binoculars.
To help the birds feel comfortable wear clothing with brown and green shades. Stay away from white which birds will tend to avoid. Of course, dress for the weather.
We’ll start with refreshments and introductions and then move on helping you to set up your binoculars to work best with your eyes. Following that, we’ll provide some basic training on how to focus your binocular on a bird.
Given our available patio seating, we can accept up to seven people.
To reserve your spot, call or text Den at 856-343-8660 or email him at ddm444@comcast.net, first come first served.
Patti and I look forward to seeing you!
